Places to Visit in Udaipur in One Day

Lake Fateh Sagar

Begin your day with breakfast by the lakeside. Udaipur has many artificial lakes and you can start exploring with Lake Fatehsagar. The lake has three small islands, all of which can be visited by a motorboat ride. Amid the city, the lake is surrounded by mountains, serving as a pleasant sight to begin your day.

There are several eateries and cafes around the lake bank, so have a fulfilling lakeside breakfast and head over to the next tourist place to visit in Udaipur.

Sahelion Ki Baari

Very close to the Fateh Sagar Lake, within 5-10 mins distance is the Sahelio Ki Baari or the Courtyard of Maiden. It is a garden that king Rana Sangram Singh built for his queen and her 48 maidens. The queen and her royal maidens would stroll around and spend time there. It has several fountains, kiosks, lush green cover and flower beds, a retreat for the ancient times when the rest was majorly dry land.

You can take a stroll around the large garden. Observe the traditional architecture, click pictures and head over to the palace next.

City Palace

City Palace, a first among the popular places to visit in Udaipur. It will take up a maximum of your time in one-day exploration and deservingly so. It can take anywhere between 2-3 hours to take a tour of the entire City Palace complex and the museum. The construction of this palace went on for about 400 years and has seen over 22 generations of Sisodia Rajputs.

The spectacular structure is built entirely in granite and marble. The delicate mirror work, wall paintings, murals, jharokas, multiple terraces and balconies, and arched gateways are all fascinating displays of royalty. Located on the banks of Lake Pichola, the views are marvellous.

Within the palace complex is the City Palace Museum. It takes you through the rich history, sculptures dating back to the 7th century, textiles worn by the royal families, old maps, photographs and more.

If you are a true history and culture enthusiast, you will find yourself lost in the charm of City Palace.

Bagore Ki Haveli

Very close to the City Palace and towards Gangaur Ghat is this old haveli, an old palace also worth visiting. Built by the waterfront, it has over 100 rooms. After continuous restorations, this haveli is now converted into a museum which displays the belongings of the royal families. A small section also displays the weapons and arms used in the wars.

Bada Bazaar

When going around places to visit in Udaipur, you simply cannot miss out on shopping from its vibrant markets. There are many places for shopping in Udaipur to pick Rajasthani jewellery, mojari footwear, sarees, leather goods or paintings. Bada Bazaar is where you can explore all types of shops for these items and other local goods. The market usually closes by 7-7.30 so make sure you reach there before.

Lake Pichola

Mark the perfect end to your 1-day itinerary for Udaipur with a fancy dinner by the lakeside of Pichola. The largest lake in the city is flanked by tourists at almost all times of the day. The sunset throwing its shade on the lake waters is a beautiful sight to capture and behold. You can even plan a boat ride at sunset hours. If not, dinner on the rooftop restaurants surrounding the lake will also end your trip to Udaipur on a high note.

While there are several lakeside restaurants in Udaipur, make Lake Pichola your end stop. The expansive views of the largest lake, twinkling lights, and cool breeze accentuate the dining experience.

There are a lot more tourist places that you can visit, but we hope this 1-day itinerary of Udaipur gives you a complete tour of what the royal tourist destination has to offer.
