2 Day Jaipur Itinerary – 12 Best Places To Visit In Jaipur In 2 Days

India’s “Pink City” of Jaipur is one of the most visited places in India. It is a favourite among both domestic and international travellers. It is also one of the stops on the  “Golden Triangle”, a well-established tourist trail comprising Delhi-Agra-Jaipur. Which has further heightened Jaipur’s place on the map. Located at an easy distance from the national capital, Jaipur is one of the best places to see in India. It bears centuries’ worth of history manifest through its forts, palaces and other monuments and vibrant bazaars to keep the shopaholics busy.  If you are planning a trip to Jaipur, here are the top 15 places to visit in Jaipur in 2 days — a good amount of time to spend in Rajasthan’s capital city.

1. Amer Fort – Must Visit Fort In Jaipur

One of the “Hill Forts of Rajasthan”, Amer Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located 11 km away from the city centre. Amber Fort dates back to 1592 when it served as the residence for the Rajput rulers. It has now become one of the most popular places to visit in Jaipur. Its imposing walls are made out of pink and yellow sandstone, carrying an awareness of a glorious past. The Amer Fort complex is extensive, easily taking 2-3 hours to explore.

2. City Palace

Built almost three centuries ago between 1729-32, Jaipur’s City Palace lies in the old part of the city. The Palace grounds are divided into different courtyards, gardens, rooms, and buildings. Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal are the main palaces inside, which blend Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. The doorways are an attraction in themselves, constructed with utmost detail and intricate artwork. There are also museums displaying items used by the royal family back then and other traditional handiwork. The City Palace should definitely be on your Jaipur itinerary for 2 days.

3. Jantar Mantar

Jantar Mantar owes its popularity to the fact that it is the largest stone astronomical observatory in the world. The world’s largest sundial is also situated here. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is of immense historical, cultural, and scientific value. The stone and brass instruments installed at Jantar Mantar allowed people to study space and heavenly bodies. The best way to experience Jantar Mantar is to attend the light and sound show that takes place every evening.

4. Hawa Mahal

Perhaps the city’s most popular tourist site, Hawa Mahal is an icon. It is one of the must visit places to visit in Jaipur in 2 days. Located at the intersection of Badi Chaupad, Jaipur’s main road. The 5-storeyed facade of Hawa Mahal is constructed from red and pink sandstone and has 953 windows. The windows are small, and once served to permit women to look onto the street and watch festival celebrations without being seen by the public. For a better view of the Hawa Mahal, head to one of the many rooftop cafes opposite it.

5. Jal Mahal

Lying at the centre of Man Sagar Lake is Jal Mahal, just 10 minutes away from the mighty Amer Fort. With the Nahargarh Hills framing the backdrop, Jal Mahal used to function as the monarch’s shooting lodge. It now exclusively remains a tourist site, though access to the Mahal is restricted. What’s surprising about the monument is that it is actually five storeys tall. However, four of it remains underwater, and only the top floor is visible. Head to Jal Mahal at night when it lights up, and enjoy the fort from afar as you go boating on the lake.

6. Pink City

Jaipur has been lovingly called “The Pink City” for decades now. It is bound to be a part of your Jaipur itinerary for 2 days. It derives its name from the pink sandstone from which the Old City buildings were made. Though it has now waned to a hazy orange-ish hue, the Old City quarters were once a beautiful shade of pink. Many of the city’s popular monuments like City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal are located within the Old City. There are also several havelis, bazaars, and smaller architectural marvels that you can explore.

9. Patrika Gate

The Instagram-famous Patrika Gate is hands down the most photographed spot in Jaipur. A fairly recent construction, it is one of nine such gates in the city and forms the entrance to the Jawahar Circle Park. The Gate is massive, made out of a pink sandstone exterior and features a series of arches on the inside. These arches form a walkway, vibrantly decorated with colourful paintings and carvings, depicting different regions of Rajasthan and its rich cultural heritage.

11. Nahargarh Fort

If you want to catch the sunset during your time in Jaipur then the one and only place you need to head to is Nahargarh Fort. Like Amer Fort, Nahargarh Fort is also a hill fort, from where it watches over the city. It is located 30 minutes away from the main centre and offers panoramic views of Jaipur as the sun gradually sets, turning the sky from blue to shades of yellow, orange and pink before enveloping the city in a sea of darkness as Jaipur lights up for the night, creating a beautiful spectacle to witness from Nahargarh Fort.

While the original purpose of the step-well was to provide water for domestic use and agriculture, it now solely serves as a spot for locals and tourists to gather around, take photographs, and relax. Panna Meena ka Kund is unique in that it is one of the few existing remnants of an erstwhile way of living. If you can squeeze this into your Jaipur itinerary for 2 days, then you should head here directly from Amer Fort which is just 900 metres away.

15. Tripolia Bazaar

Tripolia Bazaar is most well-known for selling bangles and jewellery accessories. It is located between Manak Chowk and Chhoti Chaupar, and a bazaar that should be on your list if also want to buy tie-dye fabrics, embroidered clothes and bags, or beautifully crafted carpets to take back home.
