2 Days in Mussoorie

Day 1 in Mussoorie

In the morning: 

Take a stroll on Mall Road: Begin your visit to Mussoorie with a leisurely walk on Mall Road. Stretching 2 km long, it is located in the city centre. Mall Road has several cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and souvenir shops. Grab a warm cup of tea with a scrumptious breakfast to get going. Motorised vehicles are prohibited on the Mall Road, making it one of the best places to visit in Mussoorie. 

Ride the ropeway to Gun Hill Point: From Mall Road, walk to Jhula Ghar to take the ropeway to Gun Hill Point. It is the second-highest point here, offering a stunning view of the main town, flanked by the Himalayan range. Alternatively, you can also hike up to Gun Hill. It is one of the top things to do in Mussoorie, taking roughly 20 minutes uphill. 

In the afternoon: 

Visit Company Garden: Next on your Mussoorie itinerary, head to Company Garden. It is a colonial-era garden bathed in lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and birds. Among the best things to do in Mussoorie is boating at the artificial pond here. There is also a manmade waterfall in the garden. 

Explore Camel’s Back Road: A 15-minute drive from Company Garden brings you to Camel’s Back Road. It is named after the rocks that line this road, shaped like a camel’s hump. The 3 km stretch offers a bird’s eye view of the Doon Valley. It is one of the best places to visit in Mussoorie to watch the sunrise and sunset. A 180-year-old British cemetery is also located along this road. 

In the evening: 

Watch the sunset from Lal Tibba: Located atop Depot Hill, Lal Tibba is the highest point in Mussoorie. Translating to ‘Red Hill’, it is the best sunset viewpoint here. It also offers unhindered views of the Himalayas. Enjoy a warm cup of tea at the peak as the sky puts on a beautiful show every evening.

Day 2 in Mussoorie

In the morning: 

Visit Kempty Falls: Located an hour away from the main town, Kempty Falls is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Mussoorie. The waterfall gushes down over 1,300 metres, forming a small pool at the base.  You can take a dip during the warmer summer months. It is also a great picnic spot in Mussoorie.

Mussoorie Lake: From Kempty Falls, drive for an hour to Mussoorie Lake. It is an artificial lake that is popular for boating. It is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Mussoorie. Adrenaline junkies can partake in adventure sports like zip lining, water zorbing, and paragliding at a short distance from the lake. 

In the afternoon: 

Visit Landour, a small town near Mussoorie: From Mussoorie Lake, a 30-minute drive brings you to Landour. It is a cosy little town, ensconced among deodar and pine trees. It is also home to one of India’s most beloved writers, Ruskin Bond. Kellogg Memorial Church is a popular tourist attraction here. Follow this with a sweet break at Landour Bakehouse for the freshest bakes.

In the evening: 

Explore the best cafes in Mussorie: Drive back to the town and spend your last evening enjoying a hearty meal at one of the many cafes. Cafe Anahata offers the best of Indian, Italian, Mexican, and Oriental flavours, whereas Tealogy is known for the classic kulhad-wali chai.
