Things to do in Alibaug in November

The month of November bids farewell to our volatile monsoon. It welcomes the pleasant winds and chirpy mood of the year end. It is just about the right time to grab a fun-filled break from the city’s hustle-bustle. And what better than indulging in a relaxing holiday in the quiet town of Alibaug. Alibaug is a coastal town in the Raigad district that hosts beautiful beaches, serene sunsets and is often referred as the “The Hamptons” of Mumbai. It is easily accessible and just the right spot to getaway. We have curated a list of things that you can do while in Alibaug and enjoying a stay wrapped in luxury with Lohono Stays by Isprava at our luxury holiday homes.

Beach visits

The salty coastlines of Alibaug are the first to strike of your list when in Alibaug.  Alibaug, also known as mini Goa, is home to some magnificent beaches and sea life.  White sands dotted by numerous Suru trees and an occasional spotting of birds,  Akshi Beach is at a distance of 5km from Alibaug. The water is clean and pristine, making the area ideal for an enjoyable swim. Located 20 km North of Alibaug is Mandwa beach. This golden beach acclaimed its popularity after its debut in Bollywood cinema.  Kihim beach boasts of extraordinary beauty and picturesque scenes and is the perfect place for nature lovers to come and relax in the lap of nature, and for photographers to click some fantastic shots. Furthermore, the beach beckons tourists because of its cleanliness and fresh air.

Water sports

While some beaches are all about laying back and relaxing, the others will satisfy your adrenaline rush.  All the adrenaline junkies too can find a haven in the water sports activities that take place on the beaches. From jet skiing to banana rides, para sailing to scuba diving, family boat sailing to paddle boat riding, there is a wide range of activities to choose from.

Restaurants

If you seek some culinary treats in Alibaug, then these are our top picks. Boardwalk by Flamboyant is a perfect place for a sundowner. With stunning views of the Arabian Sea, delectable Mediterranean cuisine and more, the restaurant is a welcoming and refreshing fine-dine not just for visitors in Alibaug but also from Mumbai. Kiki’s Café and Deli overlooks the sea and serves some delicious dishes along with a soothing ambience. Located in Radison Blue, Alibaug, Kokum and Spice is great for Konkan cuisine served with a lavish experience and immense quality.

Forts and tourists spots

Visitors can visit Khanderi Fort, Kolaba Fort, Murud – Janjira Fort, Vikram Vinayak Temple or Birla Temple, Magnetic Observatory and Korlai Fort. These forts are architectural marvels aged way back to the 15th century. The Kanakeshwar Devasthan Temple, Rewas Jetty, Vikram Vinayak Temple and Karmakar museum are some other tourist attractions. Look out for Beach Box events on Mandwa jetty. An entire complex of restaurants, shops and live performances housed in graffiti-covered shipping containers comes to life on the weekends. Watch out for under-the-radar music festivals that take place in Alibaug in the winter; the first edition in 2016 was called Nariyal Paani and it now has a new avatar called MYSA music festival which takes place further South in Taala

Raigadi bazaar

This colourful market of Alibaug lies within kilometers distance from Alibaug beach.  The bazaar has many tiny bustling shops selling small items, handicrafts, local delicacies, clothes and other accessories. The antiques, sea souvenirs, shells, jewellery and chappals are some favourite tourist pick-ups.
