2 Days In Alibaug | Itinerary – What To Eat / See / Do

April 17, 2025

A nice coastal escape, Alibaug is a popular weekend destination near Mumbai. You may have visited Alibaug by now, but with growing tourism, some newer places and experiences are coming up in this “Mini Goa” region. Whether it’s Greek-style stays or adventure sports on Kihim Beach, we bring you some of the must-do things in and around Alibaug. If you are visiting Alibaug for 2 days, here’s an itinerary of what to eat, see and do here.

How to Reach Alibaug

Alibaug is a popular weekend hotspot because reaching here has become so easy with regular ferry rides. Sail across the Arabian Sea, with the ferry service, available from Gateway of India and Bhaucha Dhakka.

The improved roadways also make it easier if you wish to drive down from the city to the coast. Via the Atal Setu, you can cover the distance from the city to Alibaug in approximately 2 hours.

Alibaug Day 1

If you start early and reach Alibaug before noon, spend the rest of the day exploring around. If you book stays near the beach in Alibaug, you can return by sunset and enjoy your evening tea with the best views.

Things to Do In Alibaug

Beach hopping: Alibaug Beach is comparatively a lot more crowded with tourists as well as locals. You can head over to other beach shores like Nagaon, Varsoli, Awas or Akshi Beach throughout the day. If you have a car, it is more convenient to stop from shore to shore.

Historic fort visits: If you are a history buff, you should head over to Kolaba Fort during the low tide. This 300-year-old fort was once the chief naval station during the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Watersports: Alibaug and Nagaon Beach offer various water sports activities like banana boat rides, parasailing, jet skiing, and ATV rides on the shore. You may have done it before, but nothing beats the joy once you dash into the waves at the end of it.

Plan a beachside picnic: If you’re staying in a beachside villa in Alibaug, you can request a beachside picnic setup. At Lohono Stays’, we can help you with light snacks and fun games to make your beachside picnic more memorable.

Eat fish thali: When in Alibaug, you cannot miss out on a delicious fish thali. Fresh stock of pomfret or kingfish prepared in regional spices and coconut curry is worth a try, especially if you love seafood.

Alibaug Day 2

On day 2, you can head out early to nearby beaches, visit olden temples or plan historic fort visits around Alibaug.

Places to Visit Near Alibaug

Murud-Janjira Fort: About an hour from Alibag, you can go to Murud and take a jetty to Janjira Fort. This fortification surrounded by the sea offers a thrilling ride through secret tunnels, cannons and sculptures. The majestic structure offers picturesque views from the top.

You need to take a boat ride to reach Janjira Fort from Murud, so make sure you reach on time.

Birla Temple: Located on the Alibaug-Roha route, Birla Temple in Salav is built entirely in white marble. It is a beautiful spot to spend some time in peace. While the main deity is Lord Ganesha, there are small temples dedicated to Radha-Krishna, Shiv-Parvati and Suryadev.

Revdanda Beach and Fort: As you make your way to the Birla Temple, you’ll pass through the Revdanda Fort area. One side of the fort opens up to a serene, less-crowded beach, an ideal spot to take in the coastal beauty. Nearby, local homestays serve delicious, home-cooked meals, making it a perfect place to enjoy a hearty lunch before you head back.
